Quality, sustainability and social responsibility

As a long-standing family-owned company with production based locally, sustainable business is defined as one of the most important corporate values. To us, this means conducting business in line with environmental parameters to ensure that we preserve the basis for life in the long term. To achieve that, we pursue the goal of recycling our materials, and we also take into account social and economic interests. Another aspect of our commitment to sustainability is to provide our employees with an attractive working environment and a meaningful role.

For us, ecological, economical and social values are inextricably linked.

They characterise the respectful attitude in our company – with each other, with our customers, business partners and suppliers.

Our environmental approach starts in product development and encompasses customer needs as well as factors such as conserving resources, choice of materials, making products easy to repair, recyclable and durable, as well as using non-hazardous materials. König + Neurath is committed to following the principles of environmental protection, energy efficiency and safety in all aspects of production and manufacturing. We always take care to use the available resources optimally when we develop new products and production processes as well. With our high product quality and sustainable design we make sure that our furniture and office solutions can be used for a long time.

The heart of our corporate responsibility is the integrated process-oriented management system, which is certified in accordance with the international management standards DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management), DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) and DIN EN ISO 50001 (energy management)

König + Neurath has also been a participant in the UN Global Compact since March 2016 and supports the ten principles to render globalisation a more social and ecological process.

For our supplier chain of course that means compliance with the relevant environmental and social standards. In 2018 we had 685 suppliers, with around 84 per cent of the total purchasing volume accounted for by firms based in Germany. The remaining suppliers are also located within Europe.

König + Neurath has its CSR policies evaluated annually by EcoVadis. The goal is to track the quality of CSR management consistently and improve it. The EcoVadis evaluation focuses on 21 criteria organised into four categories: Environment, Labour Practices & Human Rights, Fair Business Practices and Sustainable Procurement. These 21 criteria in turn are based on international CSR standards, which are presented in the form of easy-to-read scorecards with points from zero to 100, as well as medals (bronze, silver and gold). König + Neurath achieved the EcoVadis Gold status again in 2019.
